stone family was a well-known family in Pingding County, Shanxi Province. Her father, Shi Ming, was a scholar who passed the imperial examination in the Qing dynasty. Her mother was his second wife and came from a scholarly background as well.

1902年,Stone Mei was born into a scholarly family in Pingding County, Shanxi Province.
She began learning Chinese characters at the age of three under her father's guidance.
After completing her primary education, she entered Taiyuan Girls' Normal School and later transferred to Beijing Women's Higher Normal School.
In 1921, her poem "Night Journey" was published in the first issue of New Republic magazine.
She became close friends with Guo Junyu, who introduced her to Marxism-Leninism and encouraged her to write about social issues.
In 1923, Stone Mei wrote a travelogue titled "Faded Shadows," which detailed her journey along the Beijing-Hankou Railway from Beijing to Shanghai.
The same year, she graduated from college and became an instructor at Beijing Girls' High School.
Stone Mei continued writing for various newspapers and magazines throughout the 1920s,
including editing Woman's Weekly for The Capital newspaper,
and publishing several novels such as Red Mustang Horse (red plum)
and Wild Wind Gale (wild wind).
Her literary career ended abruptly when she died on September 30th,
1928 due to brain inflammation while teaching at school.
