《草船借箭》
another story from the Three Kingdoms period, where Zhuge Liang, a brilliant strategist of Shu Han, used his wisdom to outsmart Cao Cao's forces during the Battle of Changban. Zhuge Liang came up with a plan to borrow arrows from a nearby village under the guise of needing them for hunting. He then used these arrows to create an illusionary fleet on the river, which led Cao Cao into a trap and resulted in a decisive victory for Shu Han.
The Analects
In The Analects, Confucius is recorded as saying: "If your conduct is determined by me you will be able to act according to it; if not determined by me you will not be able to act according to it." This quote emphasizes the importance of self-discipline and personal responsibility in achieving harmony within oneself and with others.
4.The Story of Mengzi
Mencius was one who believed that human nature was inherently good and that people could become better through education and cultivation. He argued that this could only happen when people were treated with respect and dignity, leading him to advocate for policies like universal education.
5.Zhu Xi's Commentary on The Four Books
Zhu Xi (1130-1200 AD) was one of China's most influential Confucian scholars who wrote commentaries on four important works - The Great Learning, The Doctrine of the Mean, Mencius' Works (Analects), and Xunzi's Works - which are collectively known as 'The Four Books'. Zhu Xi emphasized that cultivating virtues such as ren (benevolence), yi (righteousness), li (propriety), zhi (wisdom) and xin (integrity) would lead individuals towards harmonious relationships with others.
